About Polyver

Polyver is a Swedish footwear company with roots in the rugged winters of northern Sweden. For decades, the company built its reputation on durable, warm, and insulating boots designed for the harshest conditions. But after roughly 20 years with the same core product and market, Polyver made a deliberate strategic shift.

"We've had one type of boot and sold it in northern Sweden for 20 years," explains Daniel Stillesjö, who oversees finance and IT systems at Polyver. "We decided that strategy wasn't going to work forever so we shifted toward lifestyle and reaching a broader audience."

Today, Polyver is repositioning its footwear for everyday use beyond the far north.

The challenge

Daniel joined Polyver in 2020, just two months before the COVID-19 pandemic sent outdoor gear sales through the roof. The factory ran five shifts, producing around the clock, every day of the week. The big increase in demand eventually flattened out but it accelerated a need for a smarter infrastructure.

After moving from an outdated ERP system to Microsoft Business Central, Polyver saw the need to outsource their sales warehouse to a third-party logistics provider, DFDS, based in Borås. With smaller, more regular deliveries becoming the norm, and northern Sweden no longer being the best place for fast fulfilment, the move made sense.

However, connecting Business Central to DFDS's WMS required a reliable integration solution. Getting it wrong wasn't an option.

"It's not easy to move an entire warehouse operation to a 3PL," says Daniel. "It sets very high demands on the data systems and integrations, but also on the people and collaboration between organizations."

Finding Golden EDI

The path to Golden EDI came through a direct recommendation. DFDS uses Ongoing as their WMS, and when Polyver asked both DFDS and other contacts which integration partner was best suited for the job, Golden EDI's name came up consistently.

"We asked around for who might deliver the best solution for integrating the systems. That's how we heard of Golden EDI ," Daniel says.

The right setup for a complex project

Recognizing the complexity of a transition, Polyver made an important decision early, to bring in an independent external project manager, with a background in logistics.

Polyver's Business Central partner, Update, was also involved throughout the project – before, during, and after – ensuring the right resources were committed and that the project was given the priority it deserved.

An implementation that exceeded all expectations

Daniel was involved throughout the entire project. And his verdict on the process was clear.

"I'll be honest – I had expected it to be much more difficult. I had expected more problems and errors to come up that we'd need to fix, but they didn’t." – Daniel Stillesjö.

A key success factor was the rigorous testing phase led by Lina, Polyver's logistics manager at the time, who travelled to both the DFDS warehouse and Polyver's own facility to verify that everything worked end-to-end before go-live.

The value of a working integration

When asked about the concrete value delivered, Daniel answered without hesitation, though not in the way one might expect.

"The value is impossible to quantify, because what would the alternative have been? Not having an integration wasn't an option. I'd say it's a necessity. Having a working integration in today's world is simply non-negotiable."

That framing says it all. For Polyver, the question was never whether to integrate, but how well it would work. A seamless, reliable connection between Business Central and Ongoing isn't a bonus, it's the foundation everything else runs on.

Post-launch, the WMS integration has required minimal intervention.

Would they recommend Golden EDI?

"Yes, absolutely. I can give a straight yes on that. It's worked so well." – Daniel Stillesjö.

Polyver's next integration challenge is on the horizon, connecting to various B2B business portals, and Golden EDI remains a natural part of the conversation for what comes next.
